Deployment Administrator

Job Title: Deployment Administrator


The deployment administrator is responsible for making sure our deployment tool is stable so Production deployments do not miss their       dates. The Deployment administrator defines security, applies patches, and enforces standards.  The admin must 
Act as internal consultant for application teams within the organization for workflow design ideas.  Create best practice recommendations and periodically application designs.  Create complex SQL queries to aid in troubleshooting, maintenance and reporting.  Troubleshoot performance and availability issues in common application server configurations (JBOSS, WebSphere, and Tomcat) on Linux/Unix platforms.  Understand complex technical information translate it and communicate it to a broad audience.
Understand infrastructure as a service concepts and the various deployment models that support them.  Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery.  Experience with server management, monitoring backup and failover.  Able to navigate through rapidly changing business and technical environments.  Strong documentation skills as well as organized and proficient with details. Knowledge of Puppet, Chef and uDeploy.  Perform after hours support and on call duties 
Under general supervision and with minimal assistance from more experienced and knowledgeable programmer analysts, develops, modifies, and implements moderately complex information systems that are thorough and accurate and conform to MST standards.  Translates customer requirements, recommending system solutions and formulating detailed specifications from which programs are written.  Codes, tests, debugs, and documents assignments of moderate complexity.   Independently researches and resolves moderately complex technical problems. An intermediate level technical contributor in one or more specialized phases of application system analysis and programming with developing business application knowledge.  May serve as primary system support for one or more moderately complex information systems.  May serve in the MST Solutions Framework roles of Development Lead, Project Manager, Testing Advocate, or Operations Advocate.

This person must be detail oriented and possess the ability to effectively communicate to many varied groups.  
In addition, they will document, design, write tech specs, code, test, and debug programs of moderate to high complexity.  
Independently research and resolve fairly complex technical problems.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Minimum of 5 to 7 years experience
Understand and abide by the SOX compliance guidelines.
Contribute to project plans by identifying tasks, estimating time and work efforts.
Identify technical and operational risks associated with all phases of development of new systems and modifications of existing systems.
